PANGYO, Korea (November 4, 2024) – NCSOFT today announced its consolidated financial results for the third quarter ending September 30, 2024.

For the quarter, NCSOFT reported consolidated revenue of KRW 401.9 billion, an operating loss of KRW 14.3 billion, and a net loss of KRW 26.5 billion.

Quarterly revenue rose by 9% from the previous quarter, although it was down 5% YoY. Higher operating expenses, primarily due to increased marketing efforts for new launches and major updates, led to the operating loss, while net income was further affected by non-operating foreign exchange losses driven by exchange rate fluctuations.

Operating expenses for the quarter totaled KRW 416.2 billion, up 16% increase QoQ and a 2% increase YoY. Marketing expenses alone surged 180% QoQ and 76% YoY to KRW 48.7 billion, largely driven by promotional efforts supporting new title releases and major updates in live games.

Regional sales posted KRW 286.2 billion from Korea, KRW 49.4 billion from Asia, and KRW 28.2 billion from North America and Europe, with additional royalty sales totaling KRW 38.1 billion.

Mobile game sales witnessed a 16% increase QoQ, reaching KRW 253.4 billion. Lineage M demonstrated a 49% sales increase QoQ following its Reboot World update in June, which continues to support strong user metrics. PC online game sales declined by 6% QoQ to KRW 80.7 billion.

Since its global launch on October 1, THRONE AND LIBERTY has drawn over 4.52 million players worldwide. It claimed the top spot on Steam’s Global Top Sellers list upon release and continues to remain among the top sellers in key markets. Blade & Soul has sustained high traffic levels following the launch of the BNS NEO server in October.

To further drive creativity and adaptability, NCSOFT will establish four new independent entities: three game development studios dedicated for THRONE AND LIBERTY, LLL, and TACTAN, and a specialized AI division focused on advancing AI technology and exploring new business opportunities. This reorganization aligns with NCSOFT’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainable growth within the gaming industry.

NCSOFT remains focused on expanding its core IP portfolio while introducing new IPs to the global market. Journey of Monarch, the latest addition to the Lineage series, is set for release in the fourth quarter of 2024. Additionally, AION 2, LLL, and TACTAN are currently in development, scheduled for global release in 2025.
