PANGYO, Korea (July 26, 2023) – NCSOFT, a global premier game developer and publisher, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Aviation Meteorological Office (AMO) to collaborate on the development of AI-powered aviation meteorological information service.

AMO is a public agency that monitors potentially hazardous weather events and provides accurate aviation forecasts to ensure safe air operations. Under this agreement, NCSOFT and AMO will share essential information and strengthen their partnership to improve aviation meteorological services.

NCSOFT will leverage its proprietary AI technology to augment AMO’s aviation meteorological information production. Based on AMO’s various observation and forecast data collected from each airport, NCSOFT’s language model based generative AI will reprocess them into easy-to-read, comprehensible, and accurate sentences in natural language.

The transcripts of the weather forecast generated by NCSOFT’s AI will be reviewed by AMO forecasters. The forecast transcripts will then be promptly distributed to the weather stations in seven domestic airports in Korea. Both NCSOFT and AMO expect this partnership to create more cooperation opportunities for various aviation meteorological services using AI technology.
