PANGYO, Korea (August 13, 2020) – NCSOFT, a global premier game developer and publisher, today announced the financial results for its second quarter. The company posted global consolidated revenue of KRW 538.6 billion, operating profit of KRW 209 billion and net income of 158.4 billion.
NCSOFT’s quarterly revenue, operating profit, and net income respectively posted an increase of 31%, 61%, and 36% compared to the year-ago quarter. Its revenue, operating profit, and net income reported quarter-over-quarter decreases of 26%, 13%, and 19% respectively.
Regional revenue for each territory showed: ▲KRW 427.6 billion in Korea, ▲KRW 24.1 billion in North America and Europe, ▲KRW 15.1 billion in Japan, ▲KRW 9.5 billion in Taiwan. Royalty revenue was KRW 62.3 billion.
Mobile games reported revenue of KRW 357.1 billion, which can be broke down into ▲Lineage M with KRW 159.9 billion and ▲Lineage2M with KRW 197.3 billion. Revenue breakdowns for PC online games are as follows: ▲Lineage with KRW 34.3 billion, ▲Lineage 2 with KRW 25.8 billion, ▲AION with 8.2 billion, ▲Blade & Soul with KRW 19.8 billion, and Guild Wars 2 with KRW 15.6 billion.
Guild Wars 2 soared with a 25% growth in comparison to the previous quarter fueled by increased access and average play time. Lineage 2 maintained solid performances demonstrating a 21% growth YoY. Royalty revenue saw a 21% growth in comparison with the year-ago quarter attributable to the Lineage M’s large-scale update in Taiwan.
NCSOFT’s new projects, Project TL, Blade & Soul 2, Trickster M are currently under development for different platforms including PC, console, and mobile. The new games will be launched consecutively from the second half of 2020.
